Grant runs Pack past Bears

Football Betting Lines

11/16/2008 - Green Bay, WI (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Ryan Grant ran for 145 yards and a touchdown as the Green Bay Packers crushed the Chicago Bears, 37-3, in an NFC North battle at Lambeau Field.

Aaron Rodgers was an efficient 23-for-30 with 227 yards, two touchdowns and an interception while Greg Jennings and Donald Lee each caught a touchdown for the Packers (5-5), who snapped a two-game slide.

Kyle Orton, who missed last week's loss to Tennessee with an ankle injury, went just 13-for-26 with 138 yards and lost a fumble for the Bears (5-5), who have dropped their past two games. Matt Forte had 64 yards on 16 carries in the loss.

Coupled with Minnesota's loss to Tampa Bay on Sunday, the NFC North now has a three-way tie for first place between Chicago, Minnesota and Green Bay.

After the teams exchanged punts to start the game, Green Bay went on a scoring drive to take the lead. An eight-play, 73-yard drive was capped on a three- yard touchdown pass from Rodgers to Jennings for a 7-0 lead with 2:28 left in the first.

Chicago answered with a march of its own that spanned the first and second quarters and was finished with a 35-yard field goal from Robbie Gould to cut the deficit to 7-3 with 12:12 left in the first half.

Rodgers was intercepted deep in Chicago territory on the Packers' next touch, but the Green Bay defense held Chicago to a three-and-out.

Seven plays later, Grant punched the ball into the end zone from four yards out to give the Packers a 14-3 lead with just 1:11 left in the second.

Green Bay wasn't done scoring, though. After forcing Chicago to punt, the team got into field goal range and got a 53-yard field goal from Mason Crosby to make it a 17-3 game going into the locker room.

The Pack made it a three-touchdown game in the third quarter as Rodgers found Lee in the end zone from five yards out to make it a 24-3 game with 3:01 left in the third.

In the fourth quarter, a 33-yard field goal from Crosby, a 53-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown by Jason Hunter and a 45-yard field goal from Crosby accounted for the final score.

Game Notes

Chicago plays at St. Louis next Sunday...Green Bay plays in New Orleans on Monday night...Greg Olson had four catches for 45 yards for Chicago...Donald Driver had four catches for 60 yards for Green Bay...The Packers have seven defensive touchdowns this season, which is a franchise record...Crosby's 53- yard field goal tied a career-high.

Stanley Cup betting

New York, NY – October 3, 2007 – The dress rehearsal is over! The NHL preseason has ended and now that fans have had a glimpse of what is to come it is time to hit the book! Stanley Cup odds are live at MySportsbook.com, the world’s largest online sportsbook and casino.

The Ottawa Senators and Detroit Red Wings remain on top of the odds charts after an impressive start in the preseason. Betting lines opened for both teams at 6-1 in June. Since then the Sens have fallen to 7-1 and the Red Wings are now caught in a pack including the defending champion Carolina Hurricanes, the San Jose Sharks and the Anaheim Ducks, all at 10-1.

MySportsbook.com has also posted props on each team’s point total for the regular season. The Senators lead the charge at 108.5 followed by the Ducks at 106.5. Detroit will attempt a repeat for the prize as the Red Wings are deadlocked with the Predators at 104.5 a piece. The temporary loss of highly touted rookie Evgeni Malkin puts a lot of pressure on the stick of assistant captain Sidney Crosby - his lowly Pittsburgh Penguins are listed at 71.5.

Even if bettors are not brave enough to put their money on the underdog, an early bet on the favorites at sportsbook.com tends to produce bigger payouts than a mid-season wager. Placing a $1,000 bet last summer on the Detroit Red Wings or Ottawa Senators would have paid out to $8,000 and $10,000 respectively, opposed to a $2,500 or $3,000 payout at the beginning of the playoffs.

El Duque expected to throw Tuesday

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- New York Mets pitcher Orlando Hernandez, sidelined at spring training because of arthritis in his neck, is expected to resume throwing on Tuesday.

Hernandez received a cortisone shot Thursday after leaving camp and returning to New York to have his neck examined. The 41-year-old right-hander is penciled in as the team's No. 2 starter behind Tom Glavine.

El Duque's health is a major issue for the Mets, who won the NL East in 2007 and came within one victory of the World Series. Their aging and unsettled rotation is a big question mark this year.

MySportsbook.com has the Mets as -110 favorites to repeat as NL East champions odds

Hernandez went 11-11 with a 4.66 ERA last season, including 9-7 with a 4.09 ERA in 20 starts after the Mets acquired him from Arizona in late May. But he missed the playoffs because of a torn calf muscle.

New York already is without Pedro Martinez, out until at least midseason following rotator cuff surgery. Among those competing for starting jobs are prospects Mike Pelfrey, Philip Humber and Jason Vargas, plus veterans Chan Ho Park, Jorge Sosa and Aaron Sele.

Notes: Mets manager Willie Randolph is excited about two new utility players he could have on his bench: Damion Easley and David Newhan. ''Their value is really all over the place,'' Randolph said. Easley can play anywhere in the infield and could be used as an emergency outfielder, though Randolph said he would prefer to keep the veteran in the infield. Newhan, meanwhile, can play second base, third or any outfield position for the Mets. ''I love versatility,'' Randolph said. ''I love guys that can give me options when I need them to step in.''
